Canarian Cooks Championship
The Cabildo has launched the sixth edition of the Regional Cooks Championship "Tenerife 2010", the deadline for registration opened Saturday 27th february. The contest takes place from 19 to 21 April 2010, at the International Center of Fairs and Congresses of Tenerife.
The deadline to enter the contest is March 26.
One of the main objectives of this competition is to promote the creativity of professionals with an event that throughout its previous editions has had the participation of leading professionals. The championship looks for chefs and cooks with a high level and want to prove themselves.
The event will have regional and absolute class, so all professional cooks and island residents can participate. The winners will be able to represent the Islands in Tenerife and other tournaments and competitions nationally and internationally.
The chefs will prepare a compulsory dish and the main ingredient will be rabbit, one of the most used meats in the traditional Canarian cuisine. The other dish is a free choice, and may not be a dessert.
The organization has established a prize of 1,500 euros for the winning chef while the second and third place will receive 1,000 and 600 euros respectively. A single award for best kitchen aid will also be given, amounting to 500 euros.

New connection, Tenerife-Lithuania
A new flight, operated by the tour operator Star Holidays, will join this week Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, with Tenerife. The island received in 2009 93% of tourist arrivals from that country.
The route will start on Thursday 25, it will run weekly and initially for two months. The forecast of Lithuanian Star Holidays tour operator is that in the month of October it resumes with annual frequency. The flight, which will have a capacity of 142 seats, will reach the airport in the South, but will also scale in Gran Canaria.
The new flight is an addition to the promotion of the island through Turismo de Tenerife, held in Lithuania in May. Like last year, in collaboration with the travel magazine of the Baltic country "Stand by", a series of presentations of the tourist attractions of the island to the main travel agencies in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will be done.
The total number of Lithuanian passengers arriving in Tenerife in 2009 amounted to 5,600, which represented an increase of 1% over the previous year.

Whitney Houston in Tenerife

Whitney Houston will perform at the golf course of Adeje on April 30th, in what will be her only concert in Spain, included in the world tour "I look to you", beginning on December 9 in Moscow.
The U.S. pop star will reach the island by the hand of Rolo Productions. This will be her comeback after a period of personal and professional issues. Earlier this year the singer released "I look to you", after more than six years without releasing an album. The singer has decided to move on and overcome her addictions and family problems to resume her career. For the moment tickets are not available, although the price and sale points will be announced shortly.
The artist will come to Tenerife from London and, after her concert in the South of Tenerife, she will head to Milan.

International Music Festival 2010 Arona

Los Cristianos Cultural Center
The Culture Board of Arona, specifically the School of Dance and Music, organizes the International Music Festival Arona 2010. This festival is a series of concerts and a course of trombone and tuba. The festival will have its home in the Memorial Plaza and the Canary Brass will play. La Banda de Música de Arona and CSMC act in Los Cristianos Cultural Center. Professor Hakan Bjorkman, along with Teresa Roque, will offer a recital of trombone. There will also be tuba recital, by Jens Björn-Larsen and Teresa Roque.
